She began by recording <i>Inheritance<\/i> in 1993, an <a title=\"Album\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Album\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">album<\/span><\/u><\/a> of Scottish folk songs. This was followed a year later with a <a title=\"BBC Radio\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/BBC_Radio\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">BBC Radio<\/span><\/u><\/a> series about folk music called <i>Kindlin&#8217; the Fire<\/i>. In 1995, she devised a series called <i>Tatties and Herrin<\/i>, commissioned by BBC Radio, which told the story of the fishing and farming communities of Scotland&#8217;s north east. The songs from the series were released on two albums: <i>The Land<\/i> and <i>The Sea<\/i>. In 1996, St Clair recorded <i>Scenes of Scotland<\/i>, a collection of her mother&#8217;s songs. The album was a personal tribute to her mother who had recently died.<\/p>\n<p>In 1998, St Clair appeared in and co-produced <i>When the Pipers Play<\/i> a <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Documentary\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Documentary\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">documentary<\/span><\/u><\/a> film about the <a title=\"Great Highland bagpipe\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Great_Highland_bagpipe\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">great Highland bagpipe<\/span><\/u><\/a>. The film was first aired on <a title=\"PBS\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/PBS\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">PBS<\/span><\/u><\/a> television in the United States and went on to win four film festival awards. The accompanying CD was also released the same year. Two years later they co-produced, and she presented, the documentary <i>Millennium Pipes<\/i> about <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Marie Curie Cancer Care\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marie_Curie_Cancer_Care\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Marie Curie Cancer Care<\/span><\/u><\/a>. The same year she was asked to sing her mother&#8217;s song <a title=\"Dunkirk\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dunkirk\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Dunkirk<\/span><\/u><\/a> &#8211; Lest We Forget&#8217; at the <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Festival of Remembrance\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Festival_of_Remembrance\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Festival of Remembrance<\/span><\/u><\/a>, in the <a title=\"Royal Albert Hall\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Royal_Albert_Hall\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Royal Albert Hall<\/span><\/u><\/a>. The song was released on the album <i>Amazing Grace &#8211; anthems to inspire<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2002, St Clair was awarded an honorary degree as Master of the <a title=\"University of Aberdeen\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/University_of_Aberdeen\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">University of Aberdeen<\/span><\/u><\/a> for her lifelong contribution to the traditional music of Scotland. During the year she released two more albums: the critically acclaimed <i>The Lady and The Piper<\/i> with Gordon Walker; and <i>My Generation<\/i> a collection of children&#8217;s songs.
